The Nationwide Ballet of Canada’s Spencer Hack Promoted to Principal Dancer

The Nationwide Ballet of Canada has introduced that Spencer Hack has been promoted to Principal Dancer.  

Hack was shocked on stage by Creative Director Hope Muir following the Canadian premiere of David Dawson’s Anima Animus, by selling him from First Soloist to Principal Dancer.  

“Spencer is one in all The Nationwide Ballet of Canada’s most dedicated, versatile and poetic artists. He brings a robust physicality and emotional authenticity to each function he takes on and he’s a humble chief within the studio,” stated Muir. 

“Spencer represents most of the values I see as essential to this firm and to the way forward for our artform. It’s my nice pleasure to advertise this gifted artist to Principal Dancer.” 

Hack was born in Toledo, Ohio and skilled at Canada’s Nationwide Ballet Faculty. He joined The Nationwide Ballet of Canada as a RBC Apprentice in 2014 and was promoted to First Soloist in 2020. In 2020, Hack carried out a soloist function on the planet premiere of the Dora Mavor Moore Award-nominated Angels’ Atlas by Crystal Pite and created the function of Eurydice on the planet premiere of Orpheus Alive by Robert Binet.

A flexible dancer who approaches the classical and up to date repertoire with equal accomplishment, Hack has excelled in such roles as Jimmy on the planet premiere of MADDADDAM by Wayne McGregor, Rothbart in Karen Kain’s Swan Lake, Backside in The Dream, Allan Grey in A Streetcar Named Need and Uncle Nikolai in The Nutcracker. In 2017, Hack was awarded the Patron Award of Advantage.
