Michael Costanza – BOOOOOOOM! – CREATE * INSPIRE * COMMUNITY * ART * DESIGN * MUSIC * FILM * PHOTO * PROJECTS

Illinois-based artist Michael Costanza describes his work as “two-dimensional efficiency artwork.” That includes shapes and colours dancing collectively on a pictorial stage, the weather of Costanza’s items stream collectively in a kind of stream of consciousnesses that he calls “visible jazz.” His completed items play with duality: order/chaos, geometric/natural, pure/man-made, stunning/ugly. “Just like life’s experiences, I search stability with these dualities and work via them, laying down slowed and managed compositions,” he explains. “As some discover stability in life via meditation, artwork is the meditative expertise that helps me discover a harmonious existence.”  

Rising up with artistic mother and father—his dad a self-taught jazz drummer and mother a collector of artwork objects, photos, and books—Costanza was immersed within the arts from an early age. He performed saxophone in jazz and live performance bands from elementary college into faculty, and studied theater and movie artwork throughout his first years of faculty, nevertheless it wasn’t till a serious boat accident left him severely injured on the age of 19, that he misplaced confidence in theater and located his method to visible artwork. Since then, he has graduated with a Grasp of Nice Arts diploma from Governors State College in Illinois, and labored as a co-founder and director of an area artist co-op, a group organizer, graphic designer, and an artwork educator at numerous ranges. He’s now within the midst of a profession transition, and at present working as a contract artist.
