Juxtapoz Journal – Sotheby’s Hosts “My Physique, My Enterprise” Curated by Pussy Riot Creator, Nadya Tolokonnikova

My Body My Business is a Sotheby’s public sale curated by Unicorn DAO co-founder and Pussy Riot creator Nadya Tolokonnikova, with proceeds from the sale benefiting reproductive healthcare organizations, together with Deliberate Parenthood. This sale contains a wide range of works from 32 girls. 

Our alumni, Lindsey Byrnes, is among the artist chosen by Nadya herself as Lindsay is an American photographer and inventive director identified for her work within the music and leisure industries. Her profession started whereas working for Thrasher and Juxtapoz magazines. Byrnes rapidly established herself as a sought-after photographer within the music trade, which led her to directing music movies, designing album covers, and occurring tour with acts like Paramore and others. 

“Black and white {photograph} of a lady swimming in a pool,” Byrnes says of the photo. “The work is an exploration of the complicated feelings that come up within the aftermath of a painful break up. A tribute to the ability of the human spirit, and a reminder that even in our darkest moments, we’re able to find energy and resilience inside ourselves. A mirrored image on the common expertise of heartbreak, and the emotional journey that all of us should take to heal and transfer ahead. The act of swimming, of shifting ahead via the water regardless of the burden of sorrow, is a robust image of the human capability for endurance and perseverance.”
