A number of pictures from Pittsburgh-based photographer, artist, and educator Jacob Pesci. Closely influenced by his private struggles and time as a fight medic within the US Navy, Pesci’s studio follow focuses on the human situation and inter-personal connection. His sequence, “God Introduced Me to Pittsburgh to Punish Me for My Sins,” displays his ideas and emotions upon shifting again to his hometown:

“After a decade of working from metropolis to metropolis & job to job, I reluctantly returned to Pittsburgh in a season of immense loss. Reeling from the demise of my father & the brokenness of my marriage, I used to be compelled to confront the fact of my previous & current. Rising up in Pittsburgh, I used to be extremely lonely & remoted inside myself. I struggled at residence feeling as if I may by no means dwell as much as my father’s expectations, continuously carrying the burden of guilt & disgrace. I grew indignant & troubled, dealing with addictive behaviors. My anger & inflated ego protected my emotions of inferiority, maintaining me barely afloat as I desperately raced ahead striving to attain success & standing to safe my value. Now residence, damaged & contrite, all I’m left with are the tears I’ve been hiding.”
