DIY Pompom tassel: A tribute to El Sol

2 min read

Take a look at my DIY Pompom Tassel mission! The inspiration is from the attractive pompom tassels from Mexico, they’re so vibrant and beautoful. I believed I’d make a simplified model to get issues rolling. Now I’m able to make a pillow with the identical idea!

Impressed by the normal felt pompom tassels present in Mexico, this mission combines colourful embroidery and vivid designs to create a 5″ pompom tassel that resembles a solar face. El sol!

I stay in Phoenix, third gen, and I’ve a love/hate relationship with el sol. We’re anticipating it to hit 118 levels this weekend, and gulp… we simply gotta deal. The solar has his job to do, and he’s doing it nicely. Who am I to boring his shine? *Adjusts workplace fan*

Whether or not you’re a seasoned crafter or simply beginning out, this El Sol mission is bound to carry a burst of shade and pleasure to any area. And possibly a bit warmth, too.

Embroider the small print.

Use a needle and thread in contrasting colours to sew on the eyes and mouth, proper over the place you drew the face design. You will get artistic with totally different embroidery stitches so as to add texture and depth to your solar face. Think about using a satin sew for the eyes and a backstitch for the mouth. Take your time and ensure the stitches are safe and evenly spaced. Flip over and tie off any unfastened ends of threads.

Lower it out it!

Take away the felt from the ring. Take one other piece of felt and minimize two circles, go away about 1/2″ across the embroidered space.

Time to sew then stuff.

Pin the 2 circles collectively and embroider the blanket sew midway across the two circles, then add the stuffing. Full the blanket sew all the best way round. This blanket stitch tutorial helped me learn.
