Make Some Fun

Books – The Issues I Learn in February and Struggling of Thoughts

2 min read

I watched Imaginur alone on the cinema on Thursday, I walked virtually 10k steps that day, I examine Epicurus throughout lunch (I am at present studying The Consolations of Philosophy by Alain de Botton) and realized I may use a few of his concepts as a result of it resonates with me and I have been practising a few of it for awhile.

I have been having fun with my task to this point. This 12 months I wish to learn ‘laborious’ books and study heavier matters, so extra classics (I’ve lots of catching as much as do) and maybe extra philosophy and spiritualism. ‘Arduous’ on this case is as a result of I want lots references and reread to know – this won’t be laborious for you, nevertheless it does for me.

I have been scuffling with some points recently. So to keep away from from leaping into any pointless impulses, I want to analyze the rationality of my wants and want. As Epicurus mentioned :

Simply as medication confers no profit if it doesn’t drive away bodily sickness, so philosophy is ineffective if it doesn’t drive away the struggling of the thoughts.

Additionally, writing would possibly assist, maybe I have to strive journaling once more :

There are few higher treatments for anxiousness than thought. In writing an issue down or airing it in dialog we let its important elements emerge. And by understanding its character, we take away, if not the issue itself, then its secondary, aggravating traits: confusion, displacement, shock.

The annoying factor about this entire ‘studying part’ is, the extra I study, the stupider I really feel – like there are a lot extra on the market that I do not know of, so many extra books that I have to discuss with, and it’s a humbling feeling : like you’re a miniscule plankton within the Pacific ocean.

Listed below are the books I learn & listened to in February :

  • books about relationship : Monogamy (Sue Miller), The Possession (Annie Ernaux), Lean Your Loneliness Slowly Towards Mine (Klara Hveberg)
  • graphic novels : A Present From a Ghost (Borja Gonzalez), Mamo (Sas Milledge), Simply Mates (Ana Oncina)
  • philosophy : The Socratus Specific (Eric Weiner)
  • classics : The Home of Useless (Fyodor Dostoyevsky), Knulp, Narcissus & Goldmund, Demian, Unusual Information from One other Star (Hermann Hesse)
